UFC on Fox 3 Preview and Prediction Johnson vs Barry

It is fight week!! the UFC will be returning to Fox for the 3rd installment of UFC on Fox 3 Miller vs Diaz.

Throughout this week I will be previewing each main card fight (4 of them) and predicting a winner. We have a lot of new prizes so make sure to get your picks in to our Facebook page for a chance to win.

Fight: Lavar Johnson vs Pat "HD" Barry

Lavar "Big" Johnson (16-5 overall 1-0 UFC) fights out of AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) in California. This will mark his second fight in the UFC, he knocked out Joey Beltran (first person to even knock him out) in his debut and earned Knockout of the Night honors in the process. The most impressive thing about Johnson is that none of his fights have gone to the judges, all 21 fights have ended by knockout of submission! This guy throws bombs and if they connect I don't care who is standing across the cage, it's over! He is a veteran of both the WEC and Strikeforce and is known as a powerhouse. At 6'4 and a 81 inch reach Johnson has the vitals to be a big name very soon in the heavyweight division.

Pat "HD" Barry (7-4 overall 4-4 UFC) is a Duke Roufus desiple and is a former pro kick boxer who packs a kick that can crumble any man. He is best known for his Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night win over Antoni Hardonk at UFC 104. He recieved another Fight of the Night award in his last fight vs Christian Morecraft at UFC on FX: Guillard vs Miller. It has been a rough road for Pat in the UFC but his personality has made him a fan favorite. He lost the fight vs his hero Cro Cop and seemed very hesitant to hit the Croatian, spending more time hugging than fighting. Barry is a very small heavyweight at 5'11 and will need to rely on his kickboxing Saturday.

This fight should be a great one as it matches striker vs striker. Both fighters are coming off award winning fights and that could be a selling point right there. For Barry this could be a must win fight as Strikeforce continunes to send talent to the heavyweight division and it is becoming cut throat.

Prediction: Johnson by Knockout (my pick for KOTN).

There are too many factors for Barry to overcome. Johnson is 5 inches taller and has almost a 10 inch reach advantage and with his power that spells disaster for Barry. "HD" was knocked out by Cheick Kongo last June in a fight were he struggled with the same disadvantages, the only difference this time is Johnson is stronger than Kongo. This one could be brutal.

I expect to see a short feeling out process then Johnson to slip by the kicks of Barry and land some shots that could move a mountain. Don't blink during this one because it will be over in a blink of an eye.
