05.25.12 TUFF.N.UFF EVENT REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS

From MMACAGECHATTER.com:  Over the weekend we received an email from someone who wants to remain anonymous, but was compelled to write a review about this past weekends amazing Tuff-N-Uff event, which they attended.  For those who are not familiar with the Tuff-N-Uff events, they are probably the best Amateur MMA events in Las Vegas.  With many high level MMA gyms and professional Mixed Martial Artists (who also attend the events regularly) based in Las Vegas, the Vegas amateur scene has a lot of talent because of it.
Enjoy the review an here is:
05.25.12 TUFF.N.UFF EVENT REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS

I went to Tuff-N-Uff for the first time this weekend.  Going into it, I was thinking it would be like the old county fair wrestling shows, but I love MMA and decided to try it out.  My previous statement couldn’t have been more wrong.  The event was really first class.  The format is three 2-minute rounds unless it’s for a belt, then it is three 3-minute rounds.  The competitors don’t have time to waste and there is rarely a lull in the action.  I didn’t plan on writing about this, so I am going to go off of memory.  If the details are slightly off, I apologize.
The first fight showed Josh Bleeker win by stoppage over Daniel Cuison.  Bleeker showed superior striking and may have broken his opponent’s nose.  It was an action packed fight to start off the card.  Next up saw Charles lee dominated the first 2 rounds but in the third Luiz De Franca made a statement and at one point had Lee in trouble.  But in the end Lee won by unanimous decision.
Ryan Becker seemed to be dominating Art the spider monkey Nicholas only to get tapped out in the second round.  Chelsea Lewis took on Lindsey carter in the first of two female fights of the evening.  This was also a great fight, but Chelsea won by stoppage.  She then hung around for the rest of the fights and after the fights, taking pictures with fans.  You could tell she was stoked with her win and was just enjoying the moment.  Fans were really into her.
Kaiyana Rain took on Jordan Gaza for the 115lb title.  Kaiyana was a force.  I see a bright future for her in MMA.  She looked intense coming in and didn’t disappoint in the cage.  A person next to me told me that his money was on her because she looked like she meant business.    She won by stoppage as well.  The main event showed Rick James make quick work of Josh Grevas.  Rick said he took no damage and would fight tomorrow if asked.  He’s the new 145 pound champion.  He also took time walking out to take pictures with fans and sign autographs.  I would like to see both of these champions fight again.
I didn’t cover all the fights, but hit some of the highlights I remember.  As I type this I remember Jonny Parsons and Montel Williams Jr. turning in dominating performances.  Jonny, particularly, finished his opponent in the third but looked great in all three rounds.  I apologize if I left anyone out and I did miss a couple of fights.
Moral of the story is if you ever get a chance to go to Tuff-N-Uff fights, you need to.  Twenty-five dollars get you in and a few free beers.  For an extra ten dollars you can be on the floor, and for fifty dollars you get into the front five rows cageside.  Everyone there is laid back except for one power tripping security card.
Hate to throw a negative in there, but if the folks at Tuff-N-Uff read this, they need to hear it.  In one section when the fight got exciting enough to bring the crowd to its feet, this security guy started yelling at people to sit down.  There is no reason to distract people from the fights because they are standing during a barn burner of a fight.  That is what you would think a promotion would want:  fights that bring the crowd to their feet.   Anyways, that was only one security guy in one section, as I didn’t see anyone else do that in the other sections on the floor.
All of the staff (minus one) were totally awesome and friendly and did a great job and put on a great event.  The fighters put it all on the line and there was rarely a pause in the action.  If you ever get a chance to go, you need to.  There were at least 8 finishes, maybe more out of 12 fights.  Simply unbelievable.
